What is Centripital’s vision?
Our vision is to humanize and modernize hospital care in as many hospitals as possible. We pursue this vision vigorously by setting standards in patient-centered teamwork for hospital professionals and hospital units.
For hospital professionals and units, Centripital:
- sets unit design and teamwork competency standards;
- provides education to raise awareness of these standards;
- maintains certification criteria to recognize hospital units and professionals that achieve these standards.
How is Centripital regarded by healthcare leaders?
Centripital's impact has been recognized with the Society of Hospital Medicine’s 2015 Award for Excellence in Teamwork in Quality. Our model for team-based, patient-centered care is the foundation for two separate $1.5M interprofessional educational grants from the U.S. Health Services and Resources Administration. Our approach to interprofessional practice is included in the project portfolio of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services and identified as best-practice in a white paper issued jointly by the Royal Colleage of Physicians and the Royal Colleage of Nurses.
Why do our educational sessions bring all types of hospital professionals together into one classroom?
While terrific as individual professionals, the vast majority of doctors, nurses, and support staff have never trained together. Many have never seen or heard of a hospital care model where that makes it possible for them to come together as high-functioning, patient-centered teams.
So wherever and whenever we can, we teach hospital professionals and students how much better hospital care can be when we come together around the patient. Our highly experienced physician and nurse educators travel widely to educate as many hospital leaders, staff, and trainees as possible about our ground-breaking and hugely popular approach to interprofessional practice.
